When Tina Moore’s R&B/Garage hit, ‘Never Gonna Let You Go’ was a hit in the mid-nineties, Brighton UK house producer and DJ Zac Samuel was not long out of primary school.
Such is the power of music that twenty years later, a house classic that was a mainstay in the UK charts between ’95 and ’97 has now been given a modern revamp by a name to watch on the current dance scene.
Originally made famous by not only its original version but the Artful Dodger remix, Zac’s 2016 rendition comes complete with a vocal from Liverpool singer/songwriter Tayá. I met up with Zac to find out if he felt pressured to avoid upsetting fans of Tina Moore’s original, how quickly he learnt the DJ skills, and why people should flock to his hometown.
